BenidormWE HAVE NO PROPERTIES HERE AT THE MOMENT BUT A GOOD PLACE TO VISIT FOR THAT TRIP OUT. Very busy in the holiday season Located in the province of Alicante, & on the Northern part of the Costa Blanca, Benidorm is a symbol of the growth of the Spanish tourist industry. A small fishing village with a population of just 2,000 at the start of the century, it has been transformed into a tourist Mecca capable of entertaining & lodging 5,000,000 visitors per year. Often symbolised by its high rise hotels, Benidorm is either love or hate for many. The plain truth is, it is often misunderstood. Benidorm has in fact retained much of its individuality, & indeed its Spanish outlook. It is true there are many British tourists here, but tourists pour in from all over Europe, & if anything, the atmosphere in many parts of the city is an international one. The beauty of Benidorm is in its diversity. A huge selection of accommodation, gastronomy & entertainment is on offer whatever your likes/dislikes, whether you are young/old. There are few places in Europe that will cater for all the family, no matter what their interest, but this is one of them. Plenty of entertainment exists for all ages; from sporting activities such as golf, tennis, athletics, water sports, paragliding, go carts, sea fishing & scuba diving, to rural attractions, cultural attractions, a hedonistic nightlife (in places), & long established classic dance scene (winter months). Perhaps worth expanding on the winter scene is a favourite amongst retirees seeking a mild climate to spend the winter months, or to enjoy the dancing on offer. Many Benidorm Hotels feature dancing events, offering different styles such as ballroom, sequence & line dancing, amongst others. Benidorm is protected by the surrounding mountains from coastal winds, thus creating a kind of micro-climate. Indeed it is well known for mild weather & enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 18°C (64°F). All this makes Benidorm weather a year round attraction. This part of Spain is also famous for its salt lakes (salt is a major export). This has a major knock on effect on humidity levels, & as a result the air is much dryer than in other parts of Spain & Europe. The low humidity levels coupled with a mild climate, mean the WHO (World Health Organisation) have rated this part of Spain one of the healthiest climates on the planet. Benidorm FiestasLike other Spanish towns Guardamar has numerous fiestas, The list below will be updated shortly, If you have any comments or fiesta dates to add to this page please send them to us for inclusion. We will keep adding to this list and will produce a calendar so you can see what is coming up, or book your time over here to coincide with your favourites Benidorm BeachesThose contemplating a trip to a Benidorm beach will be happy to know that the city has a lot to offer. Although its sandy beaches are man made this does not detract from their quality. Parking may look like a problem, but as we know the Spanish do not like to walk anywhere so the streets are full; but if you look one block back, you will find numerous underground parking facilities that, compared to the UK are very cheep. These underground parking facilities also have the added bonus of keeping your car cool from the lovely sun. Benidorm HistorySince the time of Christ a settlement existed on Tossal de la Cala, the hill above Cala de Benidorm. However Benidorm was not officially “born” until the year 1325.
